If you're looking for blankets and other knitted essentials, you've come to the right place at Hvid. This Belgian family brand runs a warehouse, atelier, and office in the countryside and stands for conscious, planet-friendly production.
All of Hvid's items are made from 100% merino wool, a fiber chosen for its sustainability, versatility, and softness. Also, the brand works with merino because of its benefits for little ones: it is temperature regulating, can be used year-round, and does wonders for your mini's development. Babies sleep better and longer, cry less, and grow faster when they sleep under merino.
For its production, Hvid collaborates with partners who use 100% renewable energy and limit their water consumption. All items are knitted in one piece, which means no seams or waste. What cannot be done in-house, such as sewing the laundry labels, is outsourced to a sheltered workshop, enabling people who cannot work in the traditional job market to gain recognition and contribute to society.
• No need to pre-wash – All HVID products are pre-washed and shaped.
• Wash as little as possible – Merino wool is self-cleaning and odor-resistant thanks to lanolin (a natural antibacterial soap).
• Air out instead – Hang your item outside at dawn or in the bathroom after a hot shower. Moist air refreshes the wool naturally.
• Spot clean when needed – Stains like milk can be wiped off with a damp cloth. No need to wash the whole item.
• Hand wash only if really needed – Use lukewarm water (max. 20 graden) and a few drops of wool soap (not regular detergent).
• Do not soak – Gently swish the item in water, rinse in water of the same temperature, and avoid friction or sudden temp changes.
• Dry flat and wrinkle-free – Do not wring or twist. Roll in a towel to remove excess water.
• Never tumble dry – Steam or iron on a wool setting if needed.
• Machine washing is at your own risk – Only use a true wool program with a low spin cycle. "Delicate" or "hand wash" cycles are not suitable and may cause shrinkage.
• Pilling is natural – Light pilling may occur at first due to friction, but it stabilizes over time. It’s not a defect.
